Momma, I want to become a ROV Pilot Technician!

How does one become an ROV pilot technician? Where do you begin if your dad, uncle, or brother isn't in the industry?

I was putting together an article when I ran across this one by Pratham Pathak on LinkedIn. I created the Subsea Hub for ROV personnel to network so why not share his article. It's very accurate. A couple things may differ, but not enough to matter. If you know someone that's interested in getting into the ROV industry send them this link. It's very informative. Thanks again for the article Pratham!

Free Digital Competency pages

Did you run out of ROV Record of Operation pages? No problem. Either print it out or download it and save it as your own then you can use it as a digital log.

Instead of getting a supervisor signature I just add their email. It's a reference sheet anyway and what better reference than asking from the horse's/supervisor's mouth. Hell, add an email & phone number.

I know there are going to be some places that might not accept these pages but you can use them as a easy reminder to yourself on the jobs you've performed over the last couple of years. And being on the cloud you can carry them any and everywhere.

Salute to the ROV industry

Offshore workers....Corrections: MOST offshore workers are the most competent people in the world. We have backgrounds in life-saving/first-aid; water survival - for God's sake we are trained to survive a helicopter crash then survival on the open sea on a 20 man raft and that's just the general training to go offshore. Oh, I forgot fire-fighting. We do that also. I've been in the ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) industry since 2008. Still at this date and time if I go to an interview and tell them I'm a ROV Pilot-Technician they are like "Huh" and I have to explain and show them pictures and Videos. You didn't hear about ROVs during the Deepwater Horizon? Maybe you'll hear about them during this Titanic submersible event. ROV guys are some of the most underrated workers in the world when it comes to working on land! We are used to troubleshooting computers, hydraulic…

They have a lot of great articles on the subsea tech industry. You can even find upcoming oil & gas and windfarm conferences if your into that kinda thing.
